The wood used in each Palapa is Southwestern Pine harvested from nearby forests.  It is normal for the pine to split and crack as it dries out and ages.

Palapas are handmade from natural materials.  The tops of each Palapa are covered with a "Rain Cape".  Rain Capes are hand woven in Mexico and provide an authentic Tiki-type look.

After the fronds have settled for 1-2 weeks, the ends may be trimmed for a more even look if desired.

The pine is stained with Minwax Golden Oak stain.  It is recommended the center pole be re-stained on an annual basis or as needed.  Additional coats of stain will provide a warm, dark finish.

Do not hang planters or allow children to hang from the Palapa supports.  They are designed to handle the weight of the palm fronds and nothing more.

Depending on climate, the fronds will change in color to a light golden brown within 4-6 weeks after installation.

Palapas are made for shade.  They are somewhat water resistant and can withstand high winds.
